Melbourne's own Fazeek creates custom hand painted home wares including napkins, aprons, cushions and more!
I first met Jacquie the founder of Fazeek at Archies Café in Gertrude Street. From the moment she sat down, I knew we were going to be great friends – Jackie’s down-to-earth and warm character shone through. Over coffee
Jackie explained her love for art, design and home wares and showed me her fantastic range of custom products.
Tell us about your past roles/background?
I was born in Melbourne and studied fashion design, garment construction, pattern making and floristry. I've worked both in Melbourne and overseas in both the Fashion and Hospitality Industry. My roles have varied from assistant design, running fashion agencies and account management.
Tell us about the moment you decided to create Fazeek? What inspired the idea?
Before launching Fazeek, I owned my own fashion label, I've always been passionate about design. I wanted to create something less disposable where not only could I do the designing but I could also get my hands dirty.
The concept of Fazeek was formed over a delicious dinner with a very close friend. My friend and I were brainstorming ideas of a new venture, and she mentioned that she's always been on the look out for napkins which were not only cool but good quality too. This sparked me to begin researching, my background in the hospitality industry gave me a pool of brains to pick, and alas I soon found that their was a major gap in the market place for quality custom napkins.
My very first client was the incredibly talented chef/owners at a new restaurant in South Melbourne, Lume where I created their very own custom aprons and napkins!
