REAL WEDDING // NIOKA & DYSON

We were honoured to be a part of Nioka and Dyson's wedding in April. They are such a special couple, who shared a very clear vision of exactly how they wanted their wedding day to unfold. We loved being able to help bring their vision to life.

From the beginning, we knew this would be a very unique occasion. The young couple had decided early on that they would be keeping the formalities to a minimum, because they wanted the day to be as true to ‘them’ as it could be.

"We wanted it to feel like one big party, so there were a lot of traditional things we decided not to do," said Nioka.

When looking for aesthetic inspiration, Nioka wanted to recreate the classic Tuscan countryside, with its romantic landscape of ochre hills, olive groves and rosemary bushes. The couple lined their aisle with pots of rosemary, which perfectly complimented the rustic timber garden chairs which guests sat on during the ceremony.

The chic and minimalist Alto Event space provided them with the ideal blank canvas for their ceremony and reception.

"We knew this was the space for us the moment we saw it. With it’s industrial, pared-back room styling, natural light flooding in from floor to ceiling windows, and the amazing city views…  it was exactly what we had been looking for," Nioka said.

When choosing decorations and event styling for the day, it was important to Nioka that the tone was kept gender neutral, and not ‘too girlie’. "I was conscious of wanting the wedding to be an equal representation of my fiancé, and not just all me. So we decided that instead of over the top floral arrangements, we would stick with mainly green foliage," she said.

Here at The Eventurer, we can never go past a good D-Floor, and this one did not disappoint! After the short, intimate ceremony, guests were served a beautiful selection of refreshments before the houselights went down…and the giant neon ‘D’ and ‘N’ letter lights came up! Never one to sit back and let his wife do all the work, Dyson had spent weeks putting his creative powers to the test, building two giant neon letters, a D (for Dyson) and N (for Nioka) which lit up to the beat of the music. With festoon lighting and giant chandelier above, the dance-floor was alight with the warm glow of happy wedding guests into the early hours of the morning.

When we caught up with Nioka after the wedding, we had to ask: after planning such an amazing wedding, what is the one key tip her and Dyson would pass on to others. They were very quick to answer:

“Talk with each other early on and find out what is most important to you as a couple. Once you have that clear, everything else will just come together.”

And it really did. As Nioka says, “Seeing it all set up when I walked into my ceremony, linking arms with my Dad, made me so happy - It was so much better than what I had ever imagined, I just loved every second of it!”.

OH BABY!

A mixed palette of pastel pinks, hot pinks and white set the tone for an intimate baby shower for ten.

Keeping well away from the traditional baby shower vibe, clean lines from wire furniture were teamed with gorgeous soft pastel cushions and crisp white linen to give a decidedly modern twist.

The floral arrangements were a particular stand-out feature for this celebration – we just loved the combination of pink toned roses, clematis and tulips, presented in chic, solid white vases.

Big shout out to the team at Melbourne Party Emporium who provided us with the giant pink and white balloons and Inky Co. for their beautiful wrapping paper!

A WEDDING TO REMEMBER

Above a laneway, tucked away from the city madness, the Eventurer team worked their magic to create one of our all-time favourite table settings.

Bright, warm and clean, our traditional tablescape breathes an air of peace; your perfect sanctuary to enjoy fine wine, delicious food, and conversation with your favourite company.

A mixture of rich greens and bright whites complement the warm wooden textures, while pendant lights and huge hydrangeas hang from above. As we made our final tweaks to this tablescape, placing the final pieces of glassware and cutlery, we all agreed: this table was ready to be filled with guests, laughter and the clinking of champagne glasses – “to the Bride and Groom!”

Thank you to our dear friends at Place Settings (furniture hire), Botanics of Melbourne (florals), Corey Wright Photographer (Photography), Pro Light and Sound (lighting) and Tropica Weddings (stationery).
